On May 3rd, Roy L. Cordle was called as the full time Senior Pastor of the New Haven Baptist Church. He had served for eight  months as interim pastor.  Bro. Cordle retired in march 2008 from full time ministry.  But the Lord and New Haven Church family had other plans for him so he came out of retirement to accept their call as pastor.

Bro. Cordle received his Master of Ministry, Doctor of Ministry and Doctor of Theology degrees from Covington Theological Seminary in Rossville, GA.  He also received his Bachelor of Arts from William Care College (now William Carey University), Hattiesburg, MS. and his Bachelor of Ministry from Florida Baptist Theological College (now the Baptist College of Florida, in Graceville. Fla.)

I have attended New Haven Baptist Church almost all of my life. I became a Christian at age 13 during a youth revival at New Haven. I have been the Minister of Music at New Haven for 10 years. During this time the Lord has blessed me with a great choir. I graduated from Wellborn High School and was involved in both the Band and Choral programs. Following high school I was a member of the Jacksonville State University Marching Southerners Drum Section and the JSU A Cappella Choir. I have been a Marching Percussion Clinician for over 20 years teaching in both Alabama and Georgia. I have a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a master’s degree in Counseling from JSU. I also have a master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Alabama. I have been employed for 8 years at Wellborn High School as a Guidance Counselor. My hobbies include teaching music, playing the drums, singing, Alabama football, eBay, and tennis.

I grew up in Cropwell, Alabama, just south of PellCity on Hwy 231. My "home" church is Mt.PisgahBaptistChurch, which is also in Cropwell.  I received the call into ministry on a youth retreat in the Summer of 2000. I graduated from PellCityHigh School in 2002. Currently I am a student at JSU where I am seeking a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. After receiving my four year degree, I plan on going to seminary to further pursue my education. For fun I enjoy playing golf, tennis, basketball, football, fishing, a good game of rummy, Subway Restaurants, Reese Peanut Butter Cups, a good steak (medium rare), bubbles, JSU Student discounts, and petting dogs. I also enjoy playing the guitar.
