Meet our Youth Minister
Chris and his fiance Jasmine (with and appearance by Bobby)
Chris Whitten joined us in January of 2006. His hometown is Cropwell, Alabama, which is just south of Pell City on Hwy 231. He grew up at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and received the call into the ministry on a youth retreat in the Summer of 2000. Chris has a heart for youth and also for missions.

Chris went to Pell City High School and graduated in 2002. He graduated from JSU in December of 2008 with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology. He plans on furthering his education in Seminary in the future.

For fun Chris enjoys playing golf, tennis, basketball, football, fishing, a good game of rummy, Subway Restaurants, Reese Peanut Butter Cups, A good steak (medium rare), bubbles, JSU Student discounts, and petting dogs. He also enjoys playing the guitar. He has a new found love for Snickerdoodle Cookies and air mattresses. He has a heart seeking desperately to know Christ more on a daily basis, Missions, and reaching each student who comes in our doors for Christ.

Chris the Snake Wrangler
(Story told by Chris)
"On Sunday Septemer 3, 2006 there was a snake (Who I now affectionately call Snakey) who found his way into our fellowship hall. So I gathered all the courage I had and marched down there to take him outside. Armed with a broom and dustpan and a digital camera, I scooped him up and took him outside. I released him way back in the woods. He was such a gentle tempered little fella. Snakey is now in the woods where he belongs feasting on all the pests out back there away from us!!!"
